It´s now a little more than 10 years since I, my husband and our 6-month-old son went to Samoa for 3 months. I had always wanted to go to Samoa ever since a substitute at school told us kids about Samoa. He worked as a substitute, saving money, and then travelled to Samoa. When I got the chance to go abroad as a medical student I arranged to do clinical practice in Apia National hospital and at a medical center at Savaii. My husband came along on parental leave with our son (in Sweden we have av parental leave of a little more than one year).

We had our stay in Aug-Oct. We stayed at Seipepa in Apia and at Tanu beach in Savaii. We had the most wonderful stay. We all felt very much at home in Samoa. Everybody we met were kind and helpful. We felt as part of the family at Seipepa and Tanu since we stayed such a long time. We got a lot of information about where to go and what to see that was helpful. We met a lot of interesting travelers that stayed at the same places we did. Some of them we still have contact with.

Samoa still has a special place in our hearts and we wish to some day come back with our kids to show them everything we love about Samoa!

It’s been a while since my 3-weeks visit in 2001, but that vacation is still my favorite, and hopefully one day I’ll be back. You can read my Samoan Travelogue and photos here.

Our Holiday in Samoa was a fantastic experience.

We booked a 14 day round Island trip through Green Turtle Tours, which unfortunately don’t exist anymore. It was a fantastic opportunity to see all of Samoa. We were taken to several places of accommodation all around the Islands, including Upolu, Namu’a, Manono, and Savai’i and meals were also included.

Along the way, we were shown the local sights including waterfalls, coconut husking and cream making, coconut oil production, tour through an underground lava tube, tree canopy walk, and water spouts through the volcanic rocks.

We also hired a car and visited some of the other sights for a week, including Papasee Sliding Rocks, Robert Louis Stevenson Museum, and a marine reserve. It is an easy country to get around and see, and we will be back to do it all again! The hospitality of the Samoan people was amazing. They are definately some of the friendliest and warmest people of the South Pacific.
