So if one individual harms another, both families are involved and the wrongdoer brings shame not only upon themselves but to his/her whole family. There is little or no crime in Samoa which makes it also the safest to stay in. They will invite you into their homes with open arms, which is a great feeling to feel so welcomed. Every time my thoughts wander to this beautiful pearl of an island, a very special Samoan lady comes to my mind. Barefooted she is standing on the soft white sand next to a fale. I see her smiling brightly at me, stretching out both of her hands towards me. After the breathtaking sunsets, all guests of the same accommodation gathered together around a big table in the main fale to enjoy her home made traditional food. Until late at night she and her friend taught us a traditional Samoan dance. Travelling alone didn't mean to be alone. The Samoans, and especially the lady on Savaii, welcomed me with open arms everywhere I went. I picture the people of Samoa as very happy and content, curiously about what else is out there in the world and also as very proud with a self-confident aura. I really hope to return one day.
